Guwahati: The flood situation in Assam has slightly improved on Wednesday as the rain stopped for many hours but the water level in both Brahmaputra and Barak rivers as well as the tributaries are flowing above danger levels in many places. The current wave of flood has affected over 55 lakh people in 33 districts, while ninety people died because of flood and landslide related incidents.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited flood-hit areas of Nagaon district namely Chaparmukh and Kampur. He also talked to the families living in relief camps and took stock of urgent support from the concerned departments. Sarma assured all possible support to the flood-affected families with reliefs and also in the process of rehabilitation once the water recedes.

Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal also paid a visit to flood-affected areas and met the people in Phulaguri relief camp. He expressed satisfaction that a central team is coming to Assam to assess the damage & destruction caused by the devastating flood, following which the team will prepare a report to submit to the Union government. He also reviewed the flood situation on either side of National Highway between Guwahati and Roha.
